1. Acceptance of these terms

This website is operated by the University of Sydney Chinese Law Students' Society (CLSS, we, us, our). By accessing or using this website, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

CLSS is a student society. We are affiliated with, but separate from, the University of Sydney, and nothing on this site is published on the University's behalf.

2. No legal advice

Nothing on this website is legal advice. CLSS is a student society, not a law practice, and our members are law students rather than qualified legal practitioners. Information published here — including articles, publications, event materials and resources — is general in nature, may not be current, and does not take your circumstances into account.

Law students are not permitted to give legal advice without the supervision of a registered Australian legal practitioner. Do not act, or refrain from acting, on the basis of anything on this site. If you need legal help, consult a qualified lawyer. Our Pro Bono Program page lists free and low-cost legal services that may be able to assist you.

3. Accuracy of information

We try to keep this site accurate and up to date, but we make no warranty that it is complete, current or error-free. Event details, application deadlines, key dates and job listings change frequently and at short notice. Always confirm dates and requirements directly with the organisation concerned before relying on them.

We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of this site at any time without notice.

4. Job Board and third-party listings

Job, clerkship and internship listings on this site are provided by employers and third parties for the information of our members. Listing an opportunity is not an endorsement or recommendation by CLSS of the employer, the role or its terms, and we do not verify the accuracy of listings or screen employers.

Applications are made directly with the employer, on the employer's terms, and are subject to the employer's own privacy practices. CLSS takes no part in and accepts no responsibility for any recruitment process, decision or outcome.

5. Sponsors and partners

We name and link to our sponsors and partners in recognition of their support. Their presence on this site is not a recommendation or endorsement by CLSS of their services, nor by them of ours.

6. Links to other websites

This site contains links to websites we do not control. We provide those links for convenience only. We are not responsible for the content, availability, accuracy or practices of any external site, and a link does not imply endorsement.

7. Intellectual property

Unless otherwise stated, the content of this website — including text, publications, graphics, logos and the CLSS name — is owned by CLSS or its contributors and is protected by copyright and trade mark law.

You may view, download and print content from this site for your own personal, non-commercial use. You must not otherwise reproduce, republish, distribute, adapt or commercially exploit any part of it without our written permission.

Photographs, logos and other material supplied by sponsors, employers and third parties remain the property of those parties and are used with permission.

8. Contributions and submissions

If you submit an article, photograph or other material to us — for example for one of our publications — you confirm that it is your own work (or that you have permission to submit it), that it does not infringe anyone's rights, and that you grant CLSS a non-exclusive licence to publish it in our print and online channels. We may edit, decline or withdraw any submission.

9. Acceptable use

When using this website, you must not:

• use it for any unlawful purpose or in breach of these terms;
• attempt to gain unauthorised access to the site, its servers or any connected system;
• interfere with the site's operation, security or availability, including by introducing malicious code;
• scrape, harvest or systematically extract content or contact details from the site; or
• misrepresent yourself as CLSS or as being affiliated with or endorsed by us.

10. Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, CLSS and its officers, committee members and volunteers exclude all liability for any loss or damage (including indirect or consequential loss) arising from your use of, or reliance on, this website or anything on it.

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that cannot lawfully be excluded. Where our liability cannot be excluded but can be limited, it is limited to re-supplying the relevant information or content.

Our handling of personal information is described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The current version is always published on this page, with the "last updated" date at the top. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. You submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales.
